If you've recently received a notification from Google Ads saying:
“Your ad disclosure now shows: Ads funded by [Your Company Name]”
You’re not alone. And no, you haven’t done anything wrong.
This update is part of Google’s Ads Transparency initiative, which is rolling out globally to make digital advertising more accountable, more trustworthy, and more informative for users.
Google is simply making it easier for people to see who is funding an ad, just like you might see “promoted by” on a sponsored post elsewhere.
Now, when someone clicks “Why am I seeing this ad?” or views an advertiser’s listing in the Transparency Center, they’ll see your business name listed under "Ads funded by..."
That’s it. That’s the change.
Not at all.
There’s no impact on ad ranking, Quality Score, CPCs, or performance. It’s a disclosure feature only – purely informational.
Only if the business name listed is wrong.
If the ads are showing as funded by your correct business name – great. It builds trust and reinforces your legitimacy. Your customers (or competitors) checking into who’s running your ads will see exactly what you’d want them to: you.
As digital advertising grows, so does the need for transparency and accountability. This policy helps clean up the space by ensuring people know who’s really behind an ad.
Google’s transparency measures are especially useful for spotting:
Advertisers posing as someone they’re not (e.g. fake or affiliate brands)
Political or issue-based ads run by hidden interests
Lead resellers and brokers presenting as service providers
Shell companies using multiple brand names or misleading offers
Restricted or banned industries trying to bypass Google’s policies
If you’re an honest business running ads under your own name, this policy is great news. It highlights trustworthy advertisers and helps distinguish them from those using opaque tactics.
If you're running legitimate campaigns, under your business name, and offering real value to your customers – this update has zero downside. It just adds clarity for users and credibility for you.
If you're an Orca client, we’ve already checked this in your account and will alert you if anything needs fixing. If you're not a client and unsure what’s showing on your account, we’re happy to take a look.
